Adult training is back! Starts this Saturday!
Posted on by Beau Calvez
We have exciting news for those interested in our adults’ class! We will be starting aikido classes at the dojo on Saturday, September 11th at 10am! We are approaching this opening with caution as the health crisis still remains a serious consideration with the more contagious delta variant. To this end we have some temporary rules that we want to follow to make training at the dojo once again possible and safe for all involved. These are in addition to any advisories or health directives from Alberta Health:
- All members must have received their second dose of an AHS-approved COVID-19 vaccine at least two weeks before coming to the dojo
- If you feel at all under the weather or are experiencing any of the symptoms of COVID-19, do not come to the dojo (AHS list of symptoms).
- As per AHS, if you have symptoms but have not tested for COVID-19, you must self-isolate for 10 days after the start of the symptoms or until the symptoms disappear, whichever is longer
- If you are a close contact of someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, do not come to the dojo for at least two weeks, or after a negative test result
People training in our adults’ class are free to train in whatever manner suits their comfort levels. Masks are optional and you may switch partners or stay with a single partner for the entire class. Our decision to make vaccination a requirement will remain in effect until our administration decides that the safety risk has reduced enough to drop this requirement.
New hours
Monday 7–8:30pm
Wednesday 7–8:30pm
Saturday 10–11:30am
A note to our parents
Unfortunately we will not be able to run our children’s programme this fall but we are optimistic for January 2022. This was not an easy decision to make as we view this programme an essential aspect of our aikido community. We thank all the parents that continue to support us and ask that they bear with us for a little while longer.
